Proof of the True Essiac Tea Formula & Recipe

Mary McPherson’s Sworn Affidavit

~~~~~~
Rene Caisse kept her Essiac Tea formula secret except for a handful of people who had to swear never to reveal her formula.  However, that all changed on December 23, 1994 when her best friend, Mary McPherson, filed a sworn affidavit in the Town of Bracebridge, Ontario revealing Rene Caisse’s Essiac formula and recipe.
Mary McPherson knew the Essiac formula because she was the only person (other than Rene herself) who was allowed to make Essiac tea to give to Rene’s cancer patients. This is the same Essiac tea formula which helped so many cancer patients in Rene Caisse’s cancer clinic in Bracebridge, Ontario.  It is true that Rene Caisse did experiment with various herb combinations throughout her life, but the affidavit below reveals the final formula that she settled on after many years of experimentation with real cancer patients and laboratory mice.
This certified copy of Mary McPherson’s two-page affidavit (below) was provided by the Commissioner of Affidavits of the Town of Bracebridge, Ontario to the webmaster of  HealthFreedom.info over twenty years ago.  This was the first time this affidavit appeared on the internet.  Unfortunately, many companies still sell incorrect formulas that are falsely labeled “Essiac”.
MARY MCPHERSON WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT RENE CAISSE ALLOWED TO MAKE ESSIAC TEA FOR HER CANCER PATIENTS
Mary McPherson’s affidavit is the only verifiable, legal evidence of Rene Caisse’s Essiac formula.
This evidence will hold up in a court of law because it is the only official evidence, under Oath, recorded for the public record in a government office, which gives the original, authentic Essiac formula that Rene Caisse was using after more than fifty years of research and experience with cancer patients.  (The Seal of the Town of Bracebridge does not show up on this scanned image because it is crimped on the paper.)
Regardless of what some websites claim, this document reveals that the true “Essiac” formula and recipe was officially placed in the public domain for everyone’s use on December 23, 1994.  Mary McPherson’s affidavit was also verified by Sheila Snow in her book ESSIAC–THE SECRETS OF RENE CAISSE’S HERBAL PHARMACY (p. 14).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Notice that the “1 ounce of herb mixture” is not a weight measurement because it is measured with “a measuring cup” that measures fluid ounces, which is a volume measurement of water. It is important to mention that Rene Caisse did not use a weight measurement when adding the herb mixture to boiling water. She used volume measurement for the combined dried herbs with fluid ounce measurements. This makes the recipe seem confusing unless one realizes that one cup of the dried herb mixture does not weigh as much as one cup of water (which weighs 8 ounces). That is, one cup of “herb mixture” does not weigh 8 fluid ounces because the dried, powdered herbs are lighter than water.
Rene Caisse did weigh the individual herbs before mixing them together. That is, the “1 pound of sheep sorrel herbs”, “1/4 pound of slippery elm bark” and “1 ounce of Turkish rhubarb root” are weight measurements. 6 1/2 cups of cut burdock root is, of course, a volume measurement and it is equivalent to 24 ounces in weight when pieces are “the size of small peas”. [SECRETS OF RENE CAISSE’S PHARMACY, p. 14]
It is also important to note that Rene Caisse used the whole sheep sorrel plant. Nurse Caisse stated that sheep sorrel roots are “very essential” to the Essiac formula.  This was discovered by Sheila Snow who worked with Rene Caisse from 1974 to 1975 with the intention of writing Rene’s biography.  Sheila Snow discovered this important information when communicating with Dr. Chester Stock of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and obtaining the letters between Rene and Dr. Stock.
* BUYER BEWARE!  Most Essiac companies and herb suppliers are now obtaining Sheep Sorrel leaf from Bulgaria and Croatia and it is dead plant material and not even green!  Therefore, most of the Essiac sold in the US now has little medicinal value for cancer patients.  We are concerned that this may eventually give quality Essiac Tea an undeserved reputation for being ineffective against cancer.  This may also give false hope for cancer patients.
This is why we place so much attention on how we grow our certified organic herbs and the extra effort and care we place on quality, even though our Essiac Tea Herbs cost significantly more than other Essiac tea providers.  As the old adage goes:  “You get what you pay for.”  *
We do not sell nor are we associated with the trademarked (TM) or registered (R) “ESSIAC” products that are sold by other companies in Canada and the US. We only sell the herbs so that people can make Rene Caisse’s tea in their own homes. Rene Caisse never registered, patented or trademarked “Essiac” which was simply her last name spelled backwards and was originally derived from a traditional native American herbal remedy for cancer. The word “Essiac” was in common usage in the 1930s, decades before anyone tried to corner the market by “registering” or “trademarking” the word “Essiac”. Furthermore, we only use the “Essiac” formula which Rene Caisse’s best friend, Mary McPherson, officially entered into the public domain in a sworn affidavit in 1994 in Bracebridge, Ontario. This formula uses Turkey rhubarb root which is much more pleasant tasting than the Indian rhubarb products on the market (which is why Rene Caisse switched to Turkey rhubarb in her final Essiac tea formula). The HealthFreedom.info website has posted Mary McPherson’s “Essiac” formula affidavit here. This is the formula we use.
Twenty years ago HealthFreedom.info was the first website to obtain and publish on the internet a certified copy of Mary McPherson’s Essiac formula affidavit from the Town of Bracebridge, Ontario, thus settling the controversy over what Rene Caisse’s true Essiac Tea formula was.
We include sheep sorrel roots in all our Essiac Tea products at precise percentages.  The percentages refer to the ratio of sheep sorrel root to the total sheep sorrel content in the formula.
